Description
This is my first impression of Chico, CA the town where I now live: a friendly small town surrounded by almond orchards. I put a clocktower in the painting and call it "No Time Like the Present" because I was feeling a little homesick for other places I have lived and might want to return to, but that obsession with the past was keeping me from enjoying the present. Chico really is a great community to be in. I gave myself a challenge to try unusual colors in this one: bright red houses, purple trees, bright yellow ground. I was inspired by the Fauves and Pop Art artists like Andy Warhol and Peter Max.
